This series of oil paintings was created around the theme of paths, all sorts of paths; footpaths through a forest, mountain roads, alpine trails, cliff walks, country lanes and beyond.
Sometimes the path is out in the open and the view extends a great distance, perhaps we can see some water or a far off town. Or maybe it’s a path that winds through the woods, revealing itself little by little.
Paths awaken my curiosity. Where does it lead? What awaits around the bend? What’s the view from the top of the hill? What is that town or mountain that I can see in the distance?
Details
The Cliffs of Moher is one of those places that seems to change almost every minute. Weather moves rapidly in Ireland. You can be standing beneath a clear sky, when a dense blue mist quickly moves in and obscures the cliffs. The ocean and sky merge. Then the mist recedes and the cliffs seem to rise out of it.
